Job SummaryOur client, a leading manufacturer of highly reliable and efficient industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.), is looking for a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to develop new systems and improve existing ones.

Responsibilities

  • Create and design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements including control panels, control architecture, junction boxes and loop diagrams.
  • Execute project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
  • Diagnose automation problems and interact with teams, clients and vendors.
  • Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specification.
  • Program PLCs and HMI / SCADAs
  • Communicate with project stakeholders the progress relative to plan
  • Execute project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
  • Responsible for the completeness of hardware design prior to build, ensuring reduced debug project phases.
  • Provide accurate Bill of Materials as part of design, including associated instruments, and associated assemblies,adhering to customer specification or documenting deviation acceptance from customer as required
  • Support manufacturing during the startup and integration phase
  • Consult and aid the EIC engineer in understanding hardware architecture and critical designs
  • Participate in design validation
  • Develop as-built drawings
  • Support and coordination with shop floor Electricians
  • Coordinate work with other process, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of direct experience as a controls engineer/designer working on automated processes / system integration in a manufacturing environment or industrial processes, and/or manufacturing of electrical/control Panels
  • In-depth experience in PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell / Siemens). This can include advanced maintenance work.

Background in AutoCAD, Panel Design and Fabrication is a strong plus

Proficient with written and verbal technical communicatio

Working knowledge of OSHA, NEC, IEC and other industrial code

Understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)

  • Familiarity with engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures
