Job description:

A small organic dairy operation located in California is searching for a well qualified, hands-on Dairy Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations. The candidate for this position must have a strong dairy management background and excellent leadership and motivational skills to keep the dairy team motivated and productive. Will oversee FeedWatch program and adjust inventory and report in an accurate and timely manner. Must have the ability to negotiate feed prices and manage inventory. Will also oversee herd health, equipment maintenance, calf raising staff, develop and maintain organic pasture plan. Responsible for managing, training, scheduling employees, approving time sheets and requests for time off. Dairy Manager is expected to be hands-on and fill in where needed. Must be able to communicate in English and Dairy Spanish, both orally and written.

Qualifications:

MUST HAVE CURRENT DAIRY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION

- BS in Agriculture or equivalent
- 5 years of Dairy Management experience
- Strong supervising skills
- New Zealand style Pasture / Grazing experience preferred
- Organic experience preferred
- Leadership / motivational skills.
- Speak English and Dairy Spanish effectively
- Strong herd health skills
- Feed / Nutrition knowledge
- Proficient computer skills
- Crop experience
