Job Summary
Responsible for carrying out a full range of engineering functions including, but not limited to: pit design, shortterm mine planning,
equipment analysis, production reporting, dump design, road/ramp design, and project management. Will have direct involvement and communication with staff from other departments.
Essential Functions
1. Design intermediate pit phases based on mineral model and constraints such as mining limitations, slope design criteria, topography, and facility location.
2. Use pit and phase designs to generate shortrange mine plans that accurately predict mining progress by period.
3. Integrate shortterm mine plans into the longterm and LOM plan.
4. Evaluate alternative shortterm mine plans based on operational bottlenecks (equipment availabilities, mill production needs, etc.).
5. Produce drill pattern designs based on shortterm plan and operational parameters.
6. Conduct equipment studies to verify that planned production goals can be met.
7. Analyze all opportunities that may impact the productivity of the entire operation (i.e. model predictors for material hardness, blending strategies, minimizing dilution, etc.).
8. Generate monthly production summaries for use in company reporting.
9. Confirm that pit designs are properly implemented in the field.
10. Design waste dumps, stockpiles, access roads, ramps, and other mine site facilities.
11. Assume project management duties of construction projects, as needed. These duties include, but are not limited to: contract review, bid award, cost estimation, schedule tracking, and reporting.
12. Help develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
13. Maintain accurate records and files.

Qualifications:
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Bachelor of Science in mining engineering required.
3. Minimum of two years of experience in mining engineering preferred.
4. Knowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to pit design, mine planning, equipment analysis, and project management required.
5. General understanding of open-pit mining operations, as well as a limited understanding of milling operations and mine maintenance.
6. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software. Experience with
MineSight and AutoCAD preferred.
7. Working knowledge of surveying.
8. Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.
9. Must have solid verbal/written communication and interpersonal
skills.
10. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
11. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
12. May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
