Job description: Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer
Position Department: Quality
Reports To: Quality Manager
Overview: Quality Engineer is responsible to drive reduction in external and internal indicators thru problem solving techniques; containment, permanent corrective actions, and In-Station Process Control (ISPC); Error Proofing; Visual Control, Work Instructions/Operation Processes at the operator level. Primary focus is to ensure Plant certifications, ISO9000; TS/IATF16949; ISO 14001.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that the overall Plant is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with QS9000/ISO/IATF and associated customer requirements.
Ensure that the Plant Document Control Process is established and ensure the proper communication of nonconformance/noncompliance conditions that violate the process.
Co-Leader for Variation Reduction Team, VRT. Create and track Balanced Single Agenda for Quality concerns based on internal and external data. Lead the team in finding, containing, fixing and preventing recurrence of concerns. Close concerns based on internal and external data.
Ensures data collection, charting, SPC/CPK studies are being performed on a regularly scheduled basis.
Champions the Quality Alert process on all quality issues, ensuring full station containment and proper inspection station verification. Hourly monitoring of assembly conditions to prevent defective product from reaching the Customer Acceptance Line.
Administering Yard Audit and Campaign practices according to documented procedures. Daily review of repair data to ensure that corrective action measures are appropriate to prevent defects from reaching the Customer.
Lead problem-solving activities for internal and external concerns relating to assigned programs using the 8D process. (In-process, Supplier, CAL, and Warranty field concerns. On current, or advanced programs)
Writes/develops/maintains all Control Plans using the proper PQP process, linking the Control Plans to the PFMEA, ensuring product quality is maintained through proper implementation and or usage of developed Control Plans.
Ensures Production Trial Runs (PTRs) are completed on engineering changes and or product launches.
Attends all engineering change meetings representing Quality department.
Document all activities as required.
Communications
Gives presentations during the BSC on quality performance, using charts and or reports as required.
Gives presentations during the VQR on quality performance, using charts and or reports as required.

Maintains Capability / CPK study schedule plant wide.
Maintains Plant Documented Control Procedure
Maintains Plant ISO9000 Certifications
Develop Plant IATF16949/Environmental 14001 Certification
Skills and Abilities
Work cooperatively with union representatives and employees.
Must communicate effectively in writing and orally with direct reports and fellow coworkers.
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must demonstrate continuous effective efforts to improve quality operations,
Must Demonstrate ability to review process deck/work instructions/Operator Instruction Sheets to ensure operator is following process for standardization
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum four (4) year degree in a Technical Field or ASQ certified Quality Engineer, and or equivalent 4 years combination of education and experience
Minimum one year ISO auditor
Minimum 1-year experience in APQP, PPAP and MSA on new products in the automotive industry.
Basic AIAG and or related quality systems knowledge.
Ability to problem solve using 8D, 5Why Analysis, DMAIC and Fishbone diagramming.
Ability to use word, excel, power point, and SPC programs
Must be able to read and apply the Quality Control Plan process
Must be able to read and use the FMEA Process and how it connects to the Quality Control Plan.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Must adhere to all Quality System requirements
Must have knowledge of Six-Sigma green or black belt process
Must have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
Electrical / Electronic training or experience highly desired
Masters Degree in a Technical Field or MBA
OEM Experience a plus
IATF Training a plus
Six Sigma Certified Green Belt or Black Belt a plus
Ability to operate or program CMM
Ability to use Minitab to perform and interpret SPC studies.
