Overall Scope
Automotive product design engineer for gasoline fuel injectors. Existing product lines include top feed gasoline port fuel injectors, throttle body injectors, and GDI injectors. A successful candidate will have some familiarity with the general operating principles of solenoids, fluid flow behavior, analysis of data to determine operating characteristics, and CAD design/FEA experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
Product design and development of gasoline fuel injectors
Reverse engineering of existing OE injectors to determine product specifications
CAD model and drawing creation
Perform development and project cost analysis
Coordinate pilot builds for new product launches
Resolve technical issues with respect to product performance
Participate in the APQP process to lead new product design projects up through hand-off to manufacturing
Consult with Sales and Customers to determine product requirements
Develop specialized design validation testing as needed
Design data acquisition methods to determine product testing requirements
Document investigations with engineering reports
Ergonomic Focus
Uses computer workstation
Using telephone, copier, scanner, fax and printer
Standing/walking/sitting
Frequent verbal and written communication
Lifting up to 30 lbs. unassisted
Use of tools and production/lab equipment
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
3 years minimum experience in a mechanical design field automotive related
Reverse Engineering a Plus
A successful candidate will have some familiarity with the general operating principles of solenoids, fluid flow behavior, analysis of data to determine operating characteristics, and CAD design/FEA experience.
Experience with CAD system such as Creo or SolidWorks
Proficient with MS Office
Good organizational skills
