The Systems Engineer will join this prop trading Infrastructure Team, which is responsible for all layers of technology in our environment, from networking to servers, and application services. The companys infrastructure was built using modern technologies and has a strong emphasis on creating robust and reusable components. As the team is flat, all members are responsible for design, implementation, operation, and support for our environment. We are looking for a self-starter who has excelled in their respective technology area and is ready to take on a broader scope of responsibilities in systems infrastructure. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, is not afraid to get their hands dirty picking apart a stack, and is ready to challenge the status quo.
This role reports to the Head of Infrastructure and is based in Midtown NYC. We pride ourselves on work flexibility and have a hybrid working mode. Expect to be in the office approximately two days per week, with occasional regional day travel to other offices and data centers.
The job provides exposure to:
- A large, Linux-centric, multi-tenant public cloud environment
- Configuration management tools such as Ansible, and infrastructuremanagement tools such as Terraform
- Heavy use of cloud-managed services (DBaaS, IaaS, etc.) to offload
undifferentiated maintenance work from the team - Containerization technologies, such as Docker
- Workload schedulers, such as Amazon ECS and Apache Mesos
- Latency-tuned physical servers
- Databases of various shapes and sizes, including relational databases,
columnar databases, NoSQL, etc. - Petabytes of object storage
- User-facing systems in various shapes and sizes (Windows, Macs, Linux
endpoints; physical and virtual)
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in CS, EE, or related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in a technology-related field
- Linux system administration
- Modern Linux technologies such as Docker, systemd, etc.
- Public cloud operation (particularly AWS)
- Scripting/programming (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Application delivery (load balancers, DNS, etc.)
- Traditional layer 2/3 routing and switching
- Security infrastructure (firewalls, etc.)
- Database Administration
- Windows and Active Directory administration
- Financial industry experience, particularly exposure to market data and order
entry technologies
