Chief Risk Officer


Implements and maintains the Corporate Risk Management Group (CRMG) framework in line with industry leading practices.Manages and communicates changes to the CRMG framework, developing appropriate educational material and training aids tailored to various staff levels across the Company.Oversees the development and maintenance of risk appetites, measures, limits, and thresholds. Implements and refines, as necessary, a measurement system for key risk indicators to appropriately determine the status of the Company's risk profile.Manages the periodic risk measurement process, including the identification of emerging risks and predictive analytics, and publishes the Company's risk profile reports for distribution to executive management, the AC and the Board of Directors.Assists executive management in the development and execution of action plans to address risk issues and emerging risks.Coordinate programs designed to minimize threats and anticipate threats to the Company, including implementation of methods and programs for avoiding potential threats.Oversee development of strategies and techniques to appropriately deal with any unanticipated losses.Facilitate communications with regulatory authorities on examination matters conducted by FDIC, state bank departments, BCFP or other regulatory authorities.Develops and manages the process for the periodic preparation and reporting of the Company's risk profile.Leads the development of new or supplemental risk measures, while incorporating measures related to emerging risks.Coordinates risk-related reporting to management committees.Guides activities to implement sustainable stress testing programs to include participation from the Company's Finance, Credit, Strategic Planning, Compliance, Legal, and Corporate Risk Management units.Guides the preparation of comprehensive documentation of stress testing model criteria, business assumptions, and the impact of economic variables on Company financial performance under stress testing scenarios.Prepares formal and informal communications to executive management, AC and the Board of Directors (and other board committees as necessary) regarding the stress testing results.Identifies opportunities to improve or enhance existing policies, or develop new policies, to incorporate risk limits and place the Company in line with leading industry practices.Identifies, recruits, selects, and manages a team of high caliber, collaborative risk professionals skilled in the identification, analysis, assessment, mitigation, and management of and reporting on risks to the Company, governance and analytics, stress testing protocols, and other risk management disciplines.Performs other duties as may be required.Regularly exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.Maintain good punctuality and attendance to work. Extensive knowledge of Corporate Risk Management frameworks and principles.Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment.Understanding of bank operations, including trust and asset management, regulatory compliance, finance and treasury, and credit.Must possess knowledge of risk analysis, database management, risk metrics, and capital management.Knowledge of corporate governance principles, including policy construct, in large banking institutions.Familiarity with modeling principles and processes, and data quality fundamentals and techniques.Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.Creativity, critical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills.Ability to operate in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment, with tight deadlines.Ability to manage multiple work streams and deliverables, and coordinate across functional initiatives.Experience with function/process design, implementation, and change management.Experience leading complex projects/programs for senior and executive management.Experience preparing deliverables for management committees and corporate boards.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.Ability to produce "board quality" documents, presentations, and analyses.Should have knowledge of financing and insurance strategies to build up preventative measures against potential losses.Must be a proven leader and manager, able to take charge and act assertively without guidance.


Bachelors degree, preferably in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, risk management or equivalent.MBA or graduate degree is a plus.8 years experience in risk management including exposure to fiduciary risk management within a financial institution.6 years experience managing employees. Chief Risk Officer

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) reports directly to the Companys Audit Committee (AC) and reports administratively to the CEO. The CRO is responsible for the continued development and enhancement of the Companys risk management governance and framework, manages the implementation of ongoing development and enhancements of such framework, implements processes for monitoring and measuring the Companys risk profile, provides critical professional judgment and challenge to the Companys risk identification and assessments provided by senior management and the first line business owners, provides leadership for the Companys various stress testing programs, and oversees the various risk management programs, including enterprise risk, operational risk, model risk, among others, in accordance with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations. Other responsibilities of the CRO include analysis and reporting of risk mitigation, managing the Companys risk appetite process, and other duties as determined by the CEO and/or the AC.
