Job description:

As a Systems Engineer you will be part of the Hardware System Engineering team, coordinating, and supporting required System Engineering activities on projects through all its Product Development phases. You will work as part of a multi-functional team in the areas of Life Sciences Instrumentation, ionization sources as well as liquid and gas handling systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Understand and support the definition of customer, marketing (VOC) and business (VOB) needs.
  • Support the generation of the User Needs Document (UND).
  • Lead the definition of system requirements including definition and management of the Subsystem Requirements where applicable.
  • Work closely with SW counterparts to ensure appropriate partitioning of requirements and complete system readiness for testing.
  • Coordinate and lead System design reviews
  • Support System Verification Testing activities as required.
  • Support tracking and reporting on technical status of the system through development including overall system reliability and cost roll-up metrics.
  • Support the development of breadboard and prototype systems.
  • Coordinate critical technical issue investigation and resolution activities on your project as required.
  • Coordinate the completion of risk management with Product Compliance and wider team.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) principles and tools to assess/select concept/design alternatives to improve the quality of products under development.
  • Ensure smooth transition to production and field through knowledge transfer with Manufacturing and Service teams.
  • Work with R&D Scientists, V&V Test, Manufacturing and Service to set Final Test spec limits for products.
Education & Key Requirements:
  • A technical degree, preferable in Engineering, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Analytical Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of new product development experience required.
  • A hands-on approach to problem solving, willing and able to set up and configure hardware systems for testing required.
  • A demonstrated history of successful product development and a broad scientific/engineering knowledge required.
