This position is with a world-class sustainable chemical company serving major customers in diversified end-use markets. This flagship plant sits on 3,000 acres and employs ~600 employees. Products from this facility are used in industries such as electronics, beauty and personal care, solvents, resin intermediates, stabilizers, energy, and construction.

The Advanced Process Control Engineer will provide advanced process control (APC) technical expertise to support the design, configuration, and online performance of the Regional APC applications. This role will assist Operations in driving value from the application and keep the APC applications in a well-ordered state with high online time.

Position Description:

  • Responsible for Advanced Control Applications (APC) in the processing units
  • Develop the pre-APC baseline measurements of performance to be used for evaluating the APC application performance and value
  • Develop, modify, and tune control applications as necessary to support and prepare for APC applications
  • Central participant in the Analysis, Design, Commissioning, and Tuning of Multivariable Constraint control applications
  • Responsible for driving value from the use of APC applications. Responsible for maintaining high availability of APC applications and maintaining APC models and tuning
  • Perform Post-Implementation Audit of APC performance and track ongoing APC performance
  • Participate on Six Sigma teams to evaluate and implement identified projects
  • Facilitate compliance with alarm system management policies and standards, for assigned process units. This may include leadership of the operational review meetings, and activities to rationalize alarm settings and priorities to meet KPI targets
  • Train operators on process control changes

Qualifications:

  • Preferred BS degree in Chemical or Electrical engineering. Other qualifications in Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science will be considered when paired with experience with APC applications
  • 5-15 years of experience including 2 years of APC experience or 5+ years of Process Control experience in a chemical or similar process is required
  • Relevant process control or APC experience in the petrochemical or refining process industries required
  • APC experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with a commercial DCS system commonly used in the petrochemical processes required
  • Experience with process engineering in an operating environment required
  • Must have the ability to obtain a TWIC Card
  • Preferred familiarity with either Emerson DeltaV or Foxboro I/A distributed control systems (DCS)
