The position is part of the Utilities & Waste Treatment (UTWT) team. The team has the responsibility of managing, setting functional expectations, and ensuring the reliability of all asset equipment. The team is also responsible for the oversight of the operations team, including daily rounds, RDC tasks, and defining process plans that meet the safety operating envelopes and production objectives. This includes maintaining full control over the daily operations, problem resolution, adhering to established internal controls, and decision making that can impact plant reliability with the focus on cost savings.

The Equipment Asset Engineer role is 70% strategic and 30% tactical. The primary focus is to obtain and analyze data taken from all the asset equipment to identify reliability risks and build reliability strategies that predict/prevent unnecessary failures, as well as present issues to the PAT. This role will work with the Asset Coordinators and Maintenance Supervisor to assist in any urgent matters that may arise, including leading RCFA (Cause-Mapping), Seal/Pump issues, MOCs, and provide technical support for operations and daily maintenance.


  • Identify equipment bad actors through metrics and develop plans to remediate via FMEA, RCFA, PMs, and other reliability tools
  • Develop and maintain KPIs focused on equipment reliability
  • Develop and own scope for asset outages
  • Provide input on process planning as needed to complete specific optimization and operational tasks
  • Calculate monthly MTBRs and maintain the reliability spreadsheet tracking costs and equipment failures
  • Support the asset mechanical integrity program
  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ Years in Refining or Chemical Process Industry
  • Basic knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis, Pressure Relief Systems, and SIS
  • Strong ability to solve problems and make timely effective decisions
