Job description:

Responsible for providing technical health and safety support to employees at the Osceola facility. Responsible for industrial hygiene, safety, and emergency response programs in Osceola. Responsible for reviewing, developing, and implementing health and safety standards and programs (hazard communications, hearing conservation, respiratory/medical programs and related training, etc.), conducting health and safety audits, and advising management and employees on regulatory requirements concerning the same for the location. Responsible for certifying new and modified manufacturing equipment. Overall responsibility for environmental compliance, reporting, training, and crisis management.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: (Describe five to seven major responsibilities of the job, beginning with the most important)
Manages, develops, implements, and enforces employee safety programs and ensures compliance with local safety laws and regulations for the Osceola plant. Coordinates and leads safety training meetings for all respective employees.
Administers and manages Workers Compensation programs and works with the Workers Compensation vendor on open claims.
Maintains OSHA logs and first aid reports for all locations.
Assesses current loss prevention and control efforts, in the area of health and safety, and makes recommendations to management for improvement.
Conducts plant tours to identify potential workplace safety/housekeeping hazards. Inspects construction projects and takes action to ensure employee safety as necessary.
Drives accident prevention activities to include inspections, observations, and incident investigations.
Manages hearing conservation program. Performs plant audiometric testing, noise monitoring, and training.
Ensures that new and modified manufacturing equipment complies with industrial hygiene/safety standards.
Advisory capacity to local management and manages OSHA inspections and correspondence.
Performs all environmental reporting, establishes and maintains compliance of all environmental policies.
Develops and executes all regulatory required training in line with state and federal guidelines.
Fosters a behavior based safety culture throughout the facility.


Qualifications:

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, experience, knowledge/skills/abilities required to perform the job)
University Degree or equivalent education/experience in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline and 5-7 years of safety management experience (manufacturing environment preferred), required.
Also desirable are 3-5 years facilitation experience in problem solving, communication, quality improvement and other typical facilitation experience. The incumbent should also possess certifications from recognized training and development organizations to deliver their programs.
Ability to speak and communicate in English. Excellent communication skills required.
Strong working knowledge of industrial hygiene, safety, environmental, and emergency response programs.
Ability to lead, direct, and motivate a team. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and team to create a results driven environment in which each team member is held accountable for results.
