We are recruiting for an "Automation Engineer" and/or Process Controls and Automation Engineer to work at a smaller site for a Global Chemical Company. The position is located in the SoutheastHouston, Ship Channel, Pasadena, Texas area, relocation assistance available. Great Pay and Total Rewards to include retirement plan.
This position will be responsible for automation and controls support for the site as well as automation strategy development andautomation security.

In this role,you will support the day-to-day production team with automation support as well as lead DCS system migration/lifecycle development as well as day to day responsibility for the cybersecurityof the site industrial networks (including but not limited DCS Servers and Workstations).

Responsibilities will include maintaining the DCS hardware, supporting and training of production and
maintenance technicians in process troubleshooting of controls and alarms associated with the automation, PLCs, and instrumentation systems, as well as data PIMS (ASPEN).

This site has a focus on continuous improvement, this role will also lead and assist in process improvements associated regulatory control deficiencies and
automation systems networking. This includes redesign of control strategies, loop tuning, and controller.

Job Responsibilities

  • Using your controls systems experience you will lead the effort in
    developing an evergreen automation roadmap which will include DCS
    lifecycle development, System reliability studies, threat
    assessments, production efficiency improvements, and maintenance
    strategies.
  • Demonstrating your robust technical knowledge, you will perform
    advanced control and graphic configuration on systems across the
    plant.
  • Your effective communication and strong teamwork skills will serve
    you well as you coordinate with Operations to implement process
    improvement, troubleshooting, and periodic health checks of
    installed base control systems.
  • Your knowledge of Honeywell Experion and TDC 3000 will help as your
    provide support of Honeywell DCS Hardware and Software to enable
    24x7 production for the site including maintaining, developing, and
    troubleshoot DCS interlocks and code language as well as graphical
    support. This includes management and support for DCS software
    backups including maintaining a high level of network performance,
    using key diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding plant specific requirements and control systems, you
    will provide technical expertise for other systems and
    communications protocols used onsite such as ASPEN data collection,
    networking and I/O to help support Accounting, Material Handling,
    Operations, EHS, Maintenance, and other supporting roles.
  • Striving for innovation and thinking analytically, you will support
    project design, commissioning and startup activities.
  • Your effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as
    reliability centered maintenance work practices will be a valued
    asset as you assist in recommending training and development options
    for in-house maintenance resource. As part of this you will also
    participate in automation control peer working groups.
  • Using your Cyber Security experience, you will be the Officer of
    Automated Security and be responsible for review/approval of
    firewall request, antivirus updating, system patching, and
    performing assessments as well as industrial networking proposals
    for automation security gaps.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum of 5 years of Controls System configuration experience in a petrochemical automation environment- Demonstrated work experience in control systems migrations
- Experience configuring and monitoring network switches
- Broad-based, hands-on knowledge and experience with various types of DCS and PLC equipment and software.
- DCS networking, and database management experience
- Experience optimizing control loop performance
- Controls system network administration experience
- Solid working knowledge of networking and security of automation systems
- Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred

- Demonstrated experience leading automation Initiatives
- SAP/R3 knowledge
