Objective Summary
The successful candidate in the corporate functional Continuous Improvement (CI) role is a Lean subject matter expert, a solid member of the CI Functional Team, and able to support a number of other functions with structured problem solving at the site in which they reside. The candidate will support Quality and Continuous Improvement.
At the site level, a wide range of projects will require the assistance of the Lean Specialist. The Lean Specialist must have excellent communication skills, work with, influence, and lead people in all site functions and roles to help craft and implement plans which support and attain the sites new and improved functionality goals.

Principle accountabilities & responsibilities
Builds employees capabilities and trains all tools and concepts of lean
Coordinates, plans and executes CI initiatives and teams for entire site
Reviews organizations business processes to enhance effectiveness by eliminating unnecessary waste
Interacts with all functions of the operation
Establishes standard work and best practices
Supports defining performance metrics and improving the business to achieve the goals of the metrics
Leads team meetings and documents actions
Reports implementation progress to management, including during Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews
Offers technical expertise for problem solving
Bachelors degree, preferably technical. Advanced degree desirable but not required.
At least 5 years demonstrated experience with the execution and implementation of lean methodology, including but not limited to VSM, 5S, Kaizen
Minimum 3 years Lean experience is a must. 6-Sigma certification is a bonus


Candidate profile and job experience
o Knowledge of and proven practitioner of all elements of Lean Principles
o Demonstrated experience training, guiding and mentoring individuals and teams in the implementation of Lean tools
o Structured approach to leading Kaizen events varying from point improvement to week-long Kaizen
o Act as an expert in the application of process improvement tools, (e.g., Process Mapping/Flow Diagrams, Pareto charts, FMEA, etc.)
o Managed Kaizen event planning and execution of events with measurable results
o Able to perform process studies and/or time studies to determine current methods and to identify waste within processes and implement changes to improve processes to eliminate waste
o Familiarity with other problem-solving tools, such as 6-Sigma, etc., a bonus but not imperative
o Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio or a similar software

o Must have strong communication skills
o Exhibits the ability to describe lean concepts to colleagues across functional groups, from union to non-union to executive levels in the organization, and execute change following the principles
o The candidate should be able to clearly synthesize and describe progress made at their respective site, both in written and verbal description

o Proven leadership and team-building experiences
o Understands how to be an agent of change and lead others through solid influencing tactics. This role currently has no direct reports
