Windows & VMware Disaster Recovery Engineer (Hybrid)

Job description:

The Windows and VMware Disaster Recovery Systems Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance of the enterprise backup environment with a focus on ransomware protection and disaster recovery preparedness for the Windows and VMware environments

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administration and support of the Windows and VMware environment, including requirements analysis, server deployment, patch maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the enterprise backup environment, including replication to other sites, tape duplication, backup software upgrades, optimization of backup policies, and monitoring and forecasting enterprise backup licensing consumption.
• Respond to support requests from users and build working relationships with customers and other departments.
• Provide disaster recovery preparedness and enterprise backups technical training and support to staff as well as advise on policies and procedures regarding disaster recovery and the administration of the Windows, Linux, and VMware environment.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and a minimum of six (6) years related experience in a heterogeneous Linux and Windows environment OR an Associates degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Demonstrated experience with an enterprise backup solution in a virtual server environment and experience supporting Linux and Windows Server operating systems in a virtual server environment required.
• Familiarity with data networking concepts is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Virtualization hypervisor administration experience preferred.
• Experience with shell scripting is desired.
• Demonstrated experience with network administration preferred, including switching, routing, and related technologies such as DNS.
