Urgent need for a Top Client in Christiansburg, VA

Job Summary:
The Nursing Unit Manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for a direct care nursing unit/area providing a vital link between the strategic direction of the organization and the point of care. The Unit Director is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the health care team and contribute to patient and employee engagement.
Provides clinical knowledge and leadership mentoring and support to Assistant Nurse Manager and ED staff. The Nursing Unit Director initiates developmental/performance based conversations and provides opportunities for professional growth. Cultivates interprofessional relationships and maintain high visibility on the nursing unit.
Responsible for the development of unit goals, action plans and outcome monitoring in alignment with the nursing and organizational strategic plan. Engages all direct reports in meeting strategic unit goals. Important metrics included Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, Staff Retention, and Throughput.
Responsible for planning of budget and managing expenses in alignment with global cost-saving initiatives including, but not limited to, staffing mix and supply management.

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification highly preferred.


BSN Required
Experience: 3-5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
AHA BLS-HCP required.
In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
