Application Engineer

SUMMARY:

Expand your professional portfolio as an Application Engineer with our client in Leeds, AL. As the Application Engineer, you will act as a bridge between Product Engineering and the Product Manager. This position requires a strong understanding of product design, application, and manufacturing methods.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Engineering
  • 2+ years of industry experience associated with high voltage Substation and/or Transmission products
    • Other electric utility industry experience will be taken into consideration as a substitute. Ideally, would have Product Engineering experience prior to entering this role
    • If that experience is very limited or if not in the areas of these products, experience may need to be gained through an initial training period at Hubbell
  • Strong engineering aptitude to help develop necessary technical documents, test reports and marketing collateral needed to support the Product Manager needs and business objectives
  • Customer visits will be required occasionally for collaborating on major projects, promoting new products, training and various other business activities
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and urgent timelines associated with wide range of job responsibilities
  • Good communication skills both verbally and through writing (presentations, sales/customer training, quote documents, business opportunity plans, emails, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products (most used: Excel, Word & TEAMS) and other critical software needs daily (PowerBI, AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD Vault, Salesforce, Workfront and SAP)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Hubbell Pricing team to set Market prices, approve prices issued & personally set the prices associated with major projects (significant one-time sales opportunities)
  • Work with Product Managers to define product needs to expand the Hubbell product line offering to satisfy industry needs
  • Use engineering background, industry knowledge & product knowledge to design transmission assemblies using Hubbell product that is compliant to the customer provided specifications along with industry standards applicable to the project country location
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and lead Product Engineers to assist with developing drawings, specifications & exceptions associated with bid packages for quoted transmission projects
  • Communicate with Hubbell Sales Team & Customers for day to day business (Problem solving, applications, training, bid-packages & pricing
  • Communicate with Customer Service and resolve questions concerning customer transactions, product needs, application requests, product cross-references and similar
  • Manage the Electrical & Mechanical testing requirements associated with performance testing of customer projects. This to include supervising test needs and managing customers that may be present to witness testing
  • Aid the Product Manager in the development, maintenance & all aspects associated with the product catalog for this product line
  • Lead and assist in customer and field sales product training associated with product function and applications
  • Aid and work with the Product Manager to develop pricing strategies and prices for projects and standard business
  • Involved in competitive product cross referencing with Hubbell products
  • Collaborate with other Hubbell business to aid in One-Hubbell solutions in the form of Transmission Assemblies but also assisting with application solutions associated with both Electric Utility Substation and Transmission opportunities involving Hubbell Connectors offered by this business
