SUMMARY: The Director of Operations is responsible for directing the overall
manufacturing operations of the organization with the objective of
providing maximum profit and return on invested capital; establishing
and meeting safety, quality, productivity, delivery, customer
satisfaction, and culture objectives. Must assure adequate resources are
available to deliver expected results, and represent the company with
customers, employees, the financial community and the public.


FLSA Exemption: Non Exempt


- Assists company officers and senior staff members in the development
and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs
and objectives.

- Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for
maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure
that products conform to established customer and company quality

- Interfaces with key customer contacts on a regular basis to maintain
effective and proactive working relationships and high levels of
customer satisfaction.

- Achieves optimum performance levels with least amount of overhead
and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.

- Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that
guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive
position and the profitability of the operation.

- Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the
manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and
safety procedures.

- Responsible for overseeing the coordination of capital planning and
project execution

- Selects, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective
action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company
policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local
regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as

- Identifies, recommends and implements changes to continuously
improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and
rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and
maintenance of production standards. Sets performance objectives and

- Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing
procedures (e.g., Lean manufacturing disciplines, training, safety,
housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).


- Proven operational leadership success in a high volume, Lean
manufacturing environment

- Demonstrated ability to build, engage and motivate high performance

- Proven ability to set aggressive improvement goals and deliver

- Supervises: Day Shift Superintendent, 2(nd) and 3(rd) Shift
Supervisors, Planner, Purchasing/Customer Service/Safety
Representative, Manufacturing Process Specialist


QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the
knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of
education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of
education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience Expected:

- Bachelors Degree in Management, Engineering, or similar business
related field

- Proven conceptual and strategic thinker who possesses fundamental
business understanding with the ability to integrate all functions
goals into the companys overall mission and visions.

- Strong driver of metrics/KPIs within the plant

- Proven engaging leadership style that supports and models a
commitment to teamwork, empowerment, hard work, accountability,
continuous improvement and communications to all organization

- Experience driving a LEAN manufacturing culture with proven success

- Strong commitment to meeting the customer needs in quality, service
and timeliness.

- 15 years solid business experience in addition to demonstrated


- Prior experience in foundry or like industry

- Leadership experience with full P&L responsibility

Communication Skills:

- Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language

- Must establish and maintain high levels of responsiveness, trust and
credibility with employees

- Must be able to drive excellent results while maintaining positive
and effective relationships with peers and subordinates

System Skills:

- Microsoft Office

- ERP System (IQMS preferred)

- Travel 10% of time, some international travel may be required
