International Payroll Manager

Report to:
Senior Manager of Local Markets, APAC region (based in India)

Location:
Ginza, Tokyo, Japan (can work from home and go to the office when required)

Job scope:
We are looking for an International Payroll Manager. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated organizational leadership capabilities, client-facing experience, a passion for driving business program impact through operational excellence and rigour, and experience navigating complex global requirements and regulatory constraints, with a collaborative and positive attitude.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop the Japan Payroll team, providing both hands-on support when required and coaching and supervising the payroll staff to help them to operate daily/monthly payroll tasks in a timely manner.

Assure that payroll records are prepared and maintained in accordance with the companys payroll policies and local payroll regulations.

Ensure the monthly local/expatriate payroll and data, and report it to the social security company. Communicate with the social insurance companies and support the employees to process the social security administrative procedures.

Ensure administrative tasks such as preparation of payslips, enrolment of new employees with social insurance office, adding or removing dependents, maternity leaves, etc. are actioned in time. Provide administrative support on social insurance-related processes for clients. Process annual social insurance reports, labour insurance premium calculation, and end-of-year adjustment process Implement procedures to increase the efficiency of the payroll department

Correspond to the questions from the group auditor and income tax coordinator and provide the required payroll data to them.

Responsible for creating, reviewing, and distributing various payroll reports to support financial projections, tax, audits, salary reviews, etc.

Process the yearly payroll tax procedure (Legal Documents to be submitted to the tax office).

Succession planning for the payroll department team.

Ensure that all employee relation responsibilities are fulfilled.

Ensure consistent documentation in support of workflow, process, policies, and playbooks Provide rigorous data analysis and reporting solutions based on business needs

Stay informed of relevant local regulatory and policy changes, communicating key changes across teams.

Answer complex payroll-related questions from employees.

Qualifications:

Key Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution

5+ years of Japan payroll experience with a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in people management.

Strong working knowledge of local regulations and policies related to payroll

Strong verbal and written skills, to connect with clients and align with various stakeholders

Advanced knowledge of local payroll software solutions Strong interpersonal skills, explaining complex issues at an understandable level
