Our client,the I.B.E.W. Local 43 and Electrical Contractors Pension, Welfare, and Annuity Funds, is adding an Assistant Plan Manager to their team. Working closely with the Plan Manager, Trustees and staff, the Assistant will help manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs serving approximately 1300 active and 450 retired participants and growing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, recommend, and implement changes in benefit plans to improve benefit programs and operations in accordance with the Funds service providers.
  • Evaluate current benefit options to plan improvements that control costs, comply with legal regulations, or enhance benefit offerings. Work with the Funds service providers to amend benefit plan documents, policies, and service provider agreements.
  • Assure Funds compliance with ERISA and consult with Funds service providers regarding such compliance.
  • Collect, analyze and present statistical and financial benefit plan data, identify trends, evaluate and prioritize issues, and recommend solutions to problems and negative trends.
  • Work with service providers (including, but not limited to, actuaries, attorneys, accountants, insurance brokers, custodians and investment consultants). Compile and provide data required by Actuary for Annual Valuation and Pension Fund Summary Plan Information Notice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or Human Resources field, or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience with Taft-Hartley jointly managed benefit funds.
  • Extensive experience managing self-insured employee benefit plan programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing the administration of employee benefit plans, including COBRA and HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and work closely with employees, vendors, consultants, management and union representatives.
