PURPOSE / MANDATE

  • Deliver accurate, timely and easily usable financial information and analysis to the management team
  • Produce cashflow forecasts
  • Reporting activities for the business and banks
  • Coordinate the accounting team with an ongoing improvement focus
  • Ensure business complies with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements in financial reporting and work safety record keeping
  • Maintain confidentiality and procedural correctness surrounding the companys financial activities
  • Develop, document and implement systems, processes and procedures
  • Assist with payroll

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget and cost control

  • Monitor budget adjustments; be a focal point for advice to internal business units on budget matters
  • Monitor budget performance to investigate and report on adverse or unusual outcomes / trends
  • Continually review the budget process and seek innovative and/or technological improvements to increase process effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work closely with business units to identify profit improvement opportunities and strategies

Financial reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including actual results, variations from budget, full year forecast results and KPI reports
  • Prepare annual financial statements and liaise with external and internal auditors in relation to financial matters
  • Prepare periodic reports regarding the financial status, financial issues, opportunities or revised financial policies as the need arises
  • Prepare statistical reports; enhance operational and financial performance reporting within the organisation including profitability analysis of key business elements

Financial analysis

  • Manipulate raw data, providing commercial financial insights that effect the decisions of operations for the leadership team
  • Develop and implement systems and tools to develop business insights and provide senior leadership with real time visibility into key business drivers
  • As required, assess the organisation's financial capacity and coordinate the capital budgeting and prioritisation of initiatives to achieve the optimal business solution
  • Conduct efficiency / effectiveness reviews and advise on appropriate accountability strategies and structures as required
  • Monitor economic indicators that impact on industry planning outcomes.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational decision making of the organisation by providing appropriate financial analysis
  • Initiating process improvements to streamline accounting systems and processes to improve automation and effectiveness of the Finance team
  • Align performance and behaviour with the organisational culture, code of conduct, mission, vision, values and confidentiality within the Tessa Group and with all external relationships
  • Develop and/or maintain functional relationships and facilitate effective communication with management, staff and clients or any other person or group necessary to conduct the functions and responsibilities successfully
  • Support the organisation's culture of zero harm in the workplace; take reasonable care to ensure actions and omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others
  • Report in a timely manner and proactively address breaches in service delivery; progress timely corrective action and/or escalate issues where policies, procedures or internal controls are ignored or breached
  • Quality assurance and continuous improvement
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Tessa Group
  • Identify and implement ways to improve client service and administration within this role
  • Contribute to ongoing review, development and implementation of changes to improve productivity and efficiency of the Tessa Group
  • Actively participate in team meetings to discuss and monitor workflows, deadlines and deliverables

PRIORITIES FOR THE FIRST 6-12 MONTHS
  • Quickly build rapport and trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate workflow of the accounting team and support and assist in the support the creation of a central accounting hub
  • Take ownership of allocated key accounts
  • Take ownership of cashflow forecasting and payroll

Duties are flexible based on the level of experience.

Qualifications:
  • Relevant Bachelors degree with a CA/CPA qualification
  • Experience working in a management/financial accounting role in the property industry in a small to medium owner-led business
